Spring is just around the corner. And before we know it, April will be here! But did you know that April is the designated month for children of military families? Val DiGiorgio discusses the upcoming month that celebrates these members of the armed forces community:
The sacrifices made by military families are many. What is often forgotten is the impact being part of a military family has on the youngest members: the children. Sure, there is a great deal of pride knowing that your mother, father (or both) diligently serve our nation. But when mom or dad have to be deployed anywhere other than home, the emotional toll is heavy. Even if a parent is stateside or a reservist, this doesn’t come without its own unique challenges. The subject of having to move on short notice, abandoning all of your friends, family and the life you’ve come to know, is difficult.
April 2022 marks the next Month of the Military Child, a month dedicated to honoring the sacrifices made by military families — particularly the children. Having grown up in a military family, Val DiGiorgio has a unique understanding of what it’s like to take on such a role as the military child. It’s part of the reason why he created the Red, White and Blue Scholarship! The scholarship founder and humanitarian looks forward to discussing and highlighting upcoming events that will be part of this special month. Stay tuned for more!
