For military families with budgets stretched thin, the holiday season can feel anything but holly and jolly. Thankfully, there are numerous nonprofits that have vowed to actively support military families and veterans in need this Christmas! Val DiGiorgio highlights some of the initiatives available to military families during the 2022 holiday season:
The holiday season can be a difficult time for any family. For many military families, Christmas might even feel hopeless. Year-round, military families and support systems make the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe. For some, that means being stationed far away from loved ones — during the holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. It means missing special moments with family and friends due to deployment… and, of course, it also means that there is a whole network of people worried about the safety of someone important to them. This can make celebrating the holidays all the more difficult to bear. Unfortunately, many military families (including veterans) face financial hardships that can quickly dim anyone’s Christmas spirit. It can be tough to put gifts under the tree when putting food on the table is already a struggle.
Members of the United States military and Armed Forces devote their lives to our nation’s safety and integrity. If you are in a position to do so, military family supporter Val DiGiorgio encourages you to consider giving back to one of these nonprofit initiatives supporting military families this Christmas:
- Pay Away The Layaway
- Operation Homefront
- Wreaths Across America
- Operation Holiday Joy
- Armed Services YMCA
- Operation Christmas Spirit
- Full Circle Home
- Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays
