Operation Ride Home Prepares for Holiday Season

Ahead of the 2022 holidays, a nonprofit initiative based in Alaska is already making their list and checking it twice. Val DiGiorgio is pleased to see that spreading the holiday spirit and joy with military families is at the top of the list!

With the summer days winding down, the holiday season will be here before we know it!  A time for spreading joy, being with family and loved ones is always the highlight of the holidays for the DiGiorgio family.  Sadly, too often, military families endure hardship during the holiday seasons, when they aren’t able to make it home for the holidays, as all the feel good Christmas songs dream.  But the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska wants to make the dream of those songs into a reality and that’s exactly what they do each holiday season!  Each year, the nonprofit teams up with Jack Daniels to run Operation Ride Home, a program which helps supply military families and personnel with the funds and resources necessary to make it home to their families.  Adjusted to meet the lifestyle of our American heroes, this program extends to times outside of the holiday period, to accommodate the fact that not every service member can take leave at that time.  As a proud family man, Valentino DiGiorgio is overwhelmed with gratitude for the Operation Ride Home program and extends a “happy holidays” to all service members in advance!
