This summer, Team Selfridge and the Michigan Air National Guard are collaborating to offer students in the Detroit area the opportunity to take part in aviation-focused STEM events. Val DiGiorgio shares the details on this exciting summer learning program:
The Michigan Air National Guard 127th Wing welcomes hundreds of Detroit area students to take part in three aviation-focused Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) day programs. This interactive experience is currently available to local high school and middle school students who are interested in pursuing training and career opportunities in military and civilian aviation. Students will have the chance to see aircraft up close and personal, as well as experience some of the highest tech in the aviation field today. Events are currently being held at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Oakland County International Airport and Detroit City Airport. Val DiGiorgio is excited about this educational STEM event series because of the program’s focus on a specific career focus. This opportunity is a testament to the reality that STEM truly is the future of the workforce.
