The issue of food insecurity is becoming more and more prevalent across the country. Sadly, military families are not outside of that statement. That’s why Val DiGiorgio is so proud of a recent effort in Texas that provided hundreds of military families with free groceries last week!
Struggling to put food on your family’s table should never be a concern for anyone in America — or the world, for that matter. But unfortunately, this could not be further from the truth. More and more families are suffering from this exact situation, especially since the rise of the covid pandemic. In Texas, military families are experiencing food insecurity like never before. But thanks to a nonprofit initiative in the Fort Hood area, hundreds of military families received 60 lbs of free groceries just this past week!
Whether they are active duty, in the reserves or a veteran, no one serving this country should have to worry about how to feed their families. The Pentagon agrees and made the generous effort to provide hundreds of military families with grocery gifts the last week of 2021. This was all thanks to generous gifts from viewers of CBS, who contributed more than $600,000 to the planned initiative. Talk about a fantastic way to close out the year!
